Every year, two one-day ballroom dance competitions are organized in our area in Massachusetts. The first is the Boston DanceSport Cup 2024 was held on Woburn in January, and the second one is the Patriot Dance Festival 2024 was held last weekend at the Newton Marriott.
The local one-day competitions always have their own magical family atmosphere, as students and competitors of mostly local dance studios compete against each other for the best of their dance skills. The atmosphere was further enhanced by the fact that the relatives and friends of the dancers could easily come to watch and support their loved ones.
At the Patriot Dance festival, our studio was represented by Irina Shapeton and Steward Hoa in Smooth and Rhythm styles.
For the first time, our competitors hit the floor in the smooth style, both in the silver category. In the group of single dances, steward took first place in all dances, while irina earned the blue ribbon in all dances except one, which means the highest steps on the podium. It was no different for scholarships. Steward was first, while Irina was second in the 6-member final.
In the afternoon, rhythm dances were on the dance floor. The atmosphere was great. Steward also performed outstandingly. Both single and scholarship even achieved first place.
