“I started learning ballroom dance with Imi in 2018. He picked me out of the crowd at a fundraiser in a ballroom dance studio, asked me to dance and would not take “no” for an answer. I am so lucky he insisted on dancing with me!
Like many people, I have had a lifelong fear of dancing (at least when anyone was watching). Imi has helped me overcome this fear, little by little. Dance is now one of the true joys of my life.

A Newfound Passion
“My dance journey started in a partner dancing course during college. The graceful movements of the rumba instructor inspired me to emulate. The variety of dances and music in ballroom dancing that I can enjoy piqued my curiosity. So I joined the club and eventually the competition team. Every time I dance to music I experience a dopamine rush. Every time l learn a new move I feel a dopamine hit.
Becoming a better dancer became my obsession. Being in the game of competition motivates me to take lessons and practices seriously. I have enlisted a professional’s help because I think the partnership can maximize my potential. I was fortunate to have Mariam who has push me beyond my expectations, and apparently is making a noticeable difference!
For me, ballroom dancing is a good social outlet. I enjoy participating in group classes and performances. As a side effect, dancing is beneficial to the human corpus and cerebrum.

Smooth
The waltz is a graceful and elegant dance that is perfect for formal occasions. Its smooth, flowing movements make it a favorite among ballroom dancers.
Rhythm
The tango is a passionate and dramatic dance that originated in Argentina. Its sharp movements and close embrace make it a captivating style to learn and perform.
Standard
The foxtrot is a versatile dance that combines smooth and jazzy movements. It is often danced to big band music and is known for its easygoing and playful nature.
Latin
The cha-cha is a lively and energetic dance that originated in Cuba. Its quick steps and rhythmic patterns make it a fun and exciting style to master.
